Privacy Policy & Data Handling
Effective Date: August 2026 • How Takeoff Engine protects, handles, and processes your data
1Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when creating an account, uploading takeoff spreadsheets, generating estimates, and configuring your contractor profile (such as name, email address, company branding, and project takeoff data). We also automatically collect certain information when you use the Service, including log data (IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs), device information, usage analytics (pages viewed, features used, session duration), and cookies or similar tracking technologies as described in our Cookies section. When making a purchase, payment details are securely collected and processed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
2How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: provide, maintain, secure, and improve Takeoff Engine; calculate estimates and generate export documents; process transactions and manage subscriptions; send service notices, security alerts, and administrative communications; provide customer support; detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; perform analytics and research to understand usage patterns and improve features; comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service; and protect the rights, property, and safety of Takeoff Engine, its users, and the public.
3Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Takeoff Engine uses cookies, local storage, and similar tracking technologies to authenticate users, maintain sessions, remember preferences, analyze usage, and improve the Service. Essential cookies are required for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. Analytics and performance cookies help us understand how the Service is used. You may control or disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling cookies may limit your ability to use certain features of the Service. We do not use tracking technologies for cross-site advertising without your consent.
4Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or proprietary project data to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances: with service providers and subprocessors who assist in operating the Service (such as hosting, payment processing, analytics, and email delivery), under contractual obligations to protect your data; with Paddle.com as Merchant of Record for payment processing; when required by law, court order, or governmental authority; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Takeoff Engine, its users, or the public; in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your data; and with your explicit consent.
5Data Ownership & Confidentiality
You retain full ownership of all takeoff spreadsheets, project bids, rate libraries, and customer data uploaded to Takeoff Engine. We do not sell, rent, or trade your proprietary takeoff data or client proposals to third parties. You may export or delete your project data at any time through your account settings. When you delete data, it is removed from active systems; however, residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period as required for disaster recovery, legal compliance, or dispute resolution, after which they are permanently destroyed.
6Payment Processing & Merchant of Record
All subscription payments, invoicing, and tax calculations are securely managed by Paddle.com (Paddle Payments Ltd / Paddle.com Market Ltd), acting as Merchant of Record. Takeoff Engine does not store raw credit card numbers, CVV codes, or full bank account details on its servers. Paddle processes payment data under its own privacy policy and is responsible for the handling of your payment information.
7Security, Retention & Data Breach Notification
We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We retain your personal information and project data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law without undue delay.
8International Data Transfers
Takeoff Engine is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. We take appropriate safeguards to protect your data during international transfers in accordance with applicable law.
9Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations; request a copy of your data in a portable format; object to or restrict certain processing of your data; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframes required by applicable law. We may decline requests that are frivolous, excessive, or would adversely affect the rights of others.
10Children's Privacy
Takeoff Engine is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. Takeoff Engine does not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at the address below. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on the Service with a revised effective date and, where required, by sending you an email notification. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
